Sam Yin states:- I am a prisoner in Victoria Gaol undergoing a sentence of 9 months imprisonment with hard labour for keeping a common gaming house at No. 2 Wa Lane.

Among the papers seized at No. 3 East Street there are entries referring to No. 24.
The entries referring to No. 24 are in the daily account slips of receipts and expenditure kept at the gambling house.
The first one (marked B) is the account for the 14th. day of the 11th. moon of last year. On it there is an entry #24 $1.20 Yat*. That means that $1.20 was paid on that day to Lam Yat for No. 24 European Constable.
Lam Yat used to pay No.24's boy. Lam Yat was cook to an Indian Constable. He also had a share in the Cheung Hing Street Gambling house.
The Indian Constable referred to was stationed at the Central Station.
